È la notizia del giorno, anche se io già lo sapevo e l’avevo detto. Il Joker con Joaquin Phoenix inizierà le riprese a Settembre. Ma Deadline scrive Martin Scorsese is no longer producing this version of the Joker as his dance card is full.
Più chiaro di così. E allora perché Best Movie e io, nei miei articoli, scriviamo che molto probabilmente Scorsese non sarà più fra i produttori ma soltanto la sua collaboratrice Emma Tillinger Koskoff?
Mentre dappertutto leggo robe come… tra i produttori figurerà Martin Scorsese?

A proposito, sì, The Shape of Water è un film di BENICIO Del Toro.
Sappiamo che è un film della DC. Eh sì, ah ah, la Democrazia Cristiana, dopo essere stata soppiantata dal PD, che ha perso le elezioni, si sta riproponendo in maniera comic. Ah ah.
Ma, a parte gli scherzi, questo Phoenix non è il Joker giusto.
Questo lo è. Perché i libri sopra il forno a microonde rendono l’idea del grande personaggio.
Un Joker che mangia tagliatelle al ragù fra una virgola e l’altra, e ama le lasagne di ottima pasta sfoglia, sfogliando pagine linde come la sua faccia imbattibile.
Ah ah.

Clint Eastwood per American Nightmare con DiCaprio e Jonah Hill?

EXCLUSIVE: Clint Eastwood is seriously circling the job of directing Fox’s high profile Billy Ray-scripted untitled project about Richard Jewell, the heroic security guard who discovered a suspicious backpack in the Olympics compound during the 1996 games in Atlanta. Jewell, who’ll be played by two-time Oscar nominee Jonah Hill, was vilified as a possible terrorist, and his good work in helping clear bystanders from the area before the bomb exploded turned into a trip to the Twilight Zone.Leonardo DiCaprio is a possible to play the Southern lawyer who helped Jewell navigate that hell.
Some navigating has to be done to make this one happen with Eastwood. After the blockbuster American Sniper, Eastwood can have his pick of projects. But he has always been incredibly loyal to Warner Bros, the place where he has made movies for decades. So Warner Bros and Fox are trying to find some common ground which might involve them sharing the picture as co-production partners. All parties are wary at the moment, but doesn’t this sound too good not to happen?
The film is based on Marie Brenner’s 1997 Vanity Fair article The Ballad Of Richard Jewell. The lawyer that DiCaprio might play knew Jewell casually and mostly did real estate closings. He seemed over his head, but guided Jewell through the demoralizing nightmare that signaled the downside of the advent of the 24-hour news cycle. The FBI finally cleared Jewell three months later. The film will be produced by Appian Way’s DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran, Hill and Kevin Misher, the latter of whom brought in the article. Misher Films’ Andy Berman also will have a producing role. Mike Ireland is overseeing for Fox. It came together when Hill and DiCaprio were eager to set up another project together after they had such a good time making The Wolf of Wall Street, for which both got Oscar nominations.
Colin Farrell per True Detective 2?

Ma no, ma che razza di notizia è mai questa? La serie televisiva più bella della storia, e non ci sono Twin Peaks e Breaking Bad che tengano, mi spiace per voi, che considerate queste superiori a True Detective, ebbene, stando a quel che riporta l’attendibile “Deadline”, potrebbe con tutta probabilità schierare fra i protagonisti l’“handicappato” Colin Farrell.
Ora, checché se ne dica, Colin è un ottimo attore, un professionista che sa associare all’aspetto tamarro da “burino” de Roma nato (poco) inglese ed esportato nella Magno(na) Hollywood, il “fascino” dello gigolò da “plaid” caldi nelle notti da playboy dei po(ve)ri, fra Oliver Stone, Michael Mann d’annata (Miami Vice “remake” docet), persino Woody Allen e varie altre collaborazioni più o meno importanti.
Quindi, non c’è molto da “scherzare”. Colin possiede “misteriosamente” un qualcosa che attrae i cineasti così come parimenti concupisce, al sol batter di sue ciglia nerissime da “tenebroso” bono (a nulla…) come mamma l’ha (s)fatto, le attricette con cui “ripassa”… il copione, copulandovi a (ri)petizione per raccomandarle dopo averlo in loro “accomodato”. Sì, non si “scomoda” più di tanto di “(ca)risma”, un vero mandrillo sempre rizzo e dagli occhi neri da Cupido moderno con molte frecce al suo arco, fra un “bacino” alla Pelvis e un birignao in sordina da “aplomb” che sa il cazzo suo.
Ma questa scelta, opinabilissima, di “sbatterlo” nella seconda stagione della serie creata da Pizzolatto, mi sembra campata per aria. Da mesi, s’avvicendano i rumors sulla possibile trama, sullo “sviluppo” dell’eredità lasciata da Cary Fukunaga. McConaughey e Harrelson han abbandonato, sfiancati dalle prime “riprese” che li han buttati al tappeto, eppur han fatto salir le lor quotazioni attoriali, appunto, da pugilatori d’un ring(hiare) immarcescibile da performer mai domi. Al che, dopo il successo stratosferico del primo “round”, ogni attore di Hollywood sta facendo carte false per far parte del prossimo (a)punt(ament)o.
Alcuni giorni fa, è stato nominato William Friedkin come possibile direttore di alcuni nuovi episodi, Pizzolatto ha intanto ufficializzato la nuova ambientazione, che si svolgerà in quel del sud della California più “afosa” e stronza, dando anche la news che i protagonisti stavolta non saranno due e neppure tre, come precedentemente annunciato, bensì 4.
La HBO dunque, stasera, dichiara che Colin Farrell è vicinissimo alla firma del cont(r)atto.
Spero si tratti di una bufala ma credo invece, purtroppo, che sia tutto vero.
Costernato, annuncio il mio ritiro dalle (s)cene, congedandomi con un triste “Abbiamo rovinato tutto”.
Sì, True Detective 2 parte coi peggiori auspici. Non potevano scegliere attore più sbagliato.
Se venisse confermata Jessica Chastain, comunque, dopo essermi ammosciato nel sentire della partecipazione di Farrell, lei potrebbe “tirare” su…
From Cannes: De Niro to star in Bus 757

Una pioggia di notizie ci sta inondando dal Festival di Cannes.
Dopo il terzetto di progetti a cui Nicolas Cage è stato associato nel giro di una manciata di velocissime ore, ecco che arriva un altro annuncio bomba.
Robert De Niro sarà protagonista del film Bus 757, almeno questo è il titolo provvisorio.
A fornirci la notizia la nostra Deadline, in ogni senso, redazionale e forse lineamente mor(t)ale a una carriera deniriana sempre più sbandante, strana e non si sa se terrà la strada ancora per molto.
Dato che questo progetto suona come un b–movie stratosferico ma non so se stratosferico coincida con bello in modo enorme, non so proprio, sapete? Voi che dite? Sì, il mio è sarcasmo di tal aggettivo, un imbellettarlo perché, letto così, par un altro filmettino del nostro Bob De Niro a caccia di facili soldini, robaccia da cas(s)etta per comprarsi altre non casine ma villoni con tanto di ristoranti Nobu.
EXCLUSIVE: Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films has set Robert De Niro to star in Bus 757, a Stephen Sepher-scripted action thriller that Scott Mann (The Tournament) will direct. The film, which shoots in September in Baton Rouge, will be distributed by Grindstone/Lionsgate Films with Hannibal Classics’ Richard Rionda Del Castro and Patricia Eberle handling international sales. EFOF principals Randall Emmett and George Furla are producing and financing, and international financing on the $15 million film is being provided by Hannibal Classics and Michael Mendelsohn’s Union Patriot Capital.
Bus 757 centers on a casino card dealer who puts together a crew to simultaneously rob a bank, and hijack a bus full of hostages to use as collateral. De Niro will play “The Pope”, a casino owner with illegitimate business practices, whose assets are the targets of the heist. Now that he’s in place, casting will begin in earnest. Emmett, Furla, Sepher and Alexander Tabrizi are producing. Barry Brooker and Stan Wertlieb will be executive producers along with Daniel Grodnik, del Castro and Eberle and Tim Sullivan is co-producer. De Niro is represented by CAA, EFOF by WME.
Che trama cattivona. Che stronzata annunciata.

Due degli attori più amati della loro generazione, e non solo, forse i più grandi di sempre (qui lo dichiaro e non lo nego), torneranno a lavorare assieme, stando all’articolo di “Deadline”.
Dopo essersi già incontrati in altri tre film, Il cacciatore, Innamorarsi e Marvin’s Room, De Niro e la Streep reciteranno nell’adattamento di “The Good House”, tratto dal bestseller omonimo Amy Leary.
Da quanto apprendiamo, il film non ha ancora un regista ma viene rivelato già invece il nome dello sceneggiatore, il premio Pulitzer Michael Cunningham, autore de “Le ore”, di cui proprio la Streep è stata una delle celebri e lodate protagoniste della famosa trasposizione cinematografica. Anche se a portarsi a casa in quel caso (eh eh) l’Oscar come Miglior Attrice fu Nicole Kidman.
Il film ricalcherà abbastanza fedelmente la “traccia” del romanzo, raccontando la storia della fin ad allora realizzata Hildy Gold (Meryl Streep), spigliata agente immobiliare del New England, una donna con alle spalle problemi di alcolismo, la cui vita “riequilibrata” comincerà di nuovo a vacillare quando una sua vecchia amica, Rebecca, tornerà a farsi “viva”.
Per provare a districare la matassa, allora Hildy andrà a ripescare un suo amore del Passato, Frank Getchell (De Niro). Un uomo forte, sicuro di sé che risolverà i suoi problemi?
Chissà.
Staremo a vedere.
FilmNation Entertainment has acquired from Jane Rosenthal the rights to the bestselling Ann Leary novel The Good House. They’re reuniting one of the great screen couples, Meryl Streep and Robert De Niro, and Michael Cunningham, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Hours(Streep starred in the movie) is set to adapt the book.
The novel is darkly comic, and told through the eyes of Hildy Good (Streep), a New England realtor and not-so-recovering alcoholic whose perfectly compartmentalized life starts to come apart at the seams when she forms a new friendship with Rebecca McCallister. As Rebecca becomes the subject of town gossip, Hildy rekindles an old flame with Frank Getchell (De Niro), a tell it like it is Yankee, who tries to un-complicate her complicated life. Streep and De Niro starred together previously in 1978′s The Deer Hunter, 1984′s Falling In Loveand 1996′s Marvin’s Room.
De Niro’s Tribeca Productions partner Rosenthal will produce with FilmNation’s Aaron Ryder and Karen Lunder. Tribeca veep Berry Welsh will be exec producer and FilmNation partner Steve Samuels helped bring the project together through a relationship with the author.
Said Rosenthal: “Ann Leary has an intoxicating voice and created a truly original character in Hildy Good. When I read the book, I was only sorry it ended – but so thrilled that we’ll be able to bring it to the screen with Meryl Streep as the irresistible Hildy. It’s the perfect project to work on with Michael Cunningham and we are excited to be doing this in partnership with FilmNation, as they were equally passionate about Ann’s characters.”
Streep, De Niro and Cunningham are repped by CAA. Leary is repped by Sylvie Rabineau. CAA will broker a domestic rights deal.
This is the latest indication of FilmNation’s diversification from sales company to a buyer spending money on development and production. Recent home grown productions include the Jeff Nichols-directed Mud, which premiered at Cannes. Upcoming projects include The Rules of Inheritance with Jennifer Lawrence.
